What is this tool?
Returns do not just mean zero profit—they usually incur negative costs (return shipping, restocking, unsellable damage). This tool calculates the total financial hit of a returned item.
Formula used
Return Loss = Landed Cost + Return Shipping + Refund Fees - Resale Value
Example calculation
If your product cost is $29, return shipping is $6, refund fee is $2, and you can recover $12 by reselling as used: Loss = $29 + $6 + $2 - $12 = $25.
When should sellers use it?
Use this when evaluating whether to offer "Free Returns" or when analyzing the profitability of high-return products like apparel.
